M-Fly is an aerospace design team that designs, builds, tests, and flies remotely controlled aircraft to compete in the SAE Aero Design Competitions annually. As stated on the SAE Aero Design Website: "The Aero Design® Competition challenges engineering students to conceive, design, fabricate, and test a radio controlled aircraft that can take off and land while carrying the maximum cargo. This gives students the opportunity to apply the knowledge learned in the classroom on a practical problem." The plane has a wingspan approaching 15 feet, is generally built from balsa wood, and can carry a payload several times its own weight.
